18 Rules for Creating Logo

How to create Good Logo Design


1. Do not use more than two fonts

2. Three colors is maximum

3. Keep away from bright, neon colors and dark, dull colors

4. Do not use taglines in the logo

5. Do not use clipart. Never

6. Photo is not a logo. Don’t use it

7. Design must be simple. Logo must be easy to describe

8. Start draw in paper. Sketch out ideas using pencil

9. The logo must have some connection to what it is representing

10. Avoid recent logo design trends

11. Create a lot of variations. Develop idea

12. Function is preferable than innovation

13. Consider the different places and ways that the logo will be presented

14. Get out of everything that is not absolutely necessary

15. The logo should be recognizable when inverted or resized

16. Make sure that the logo is recognizable when mirrored

17. The logo should look good in black and white

18. The logo must not break any of the above rules
